Save Whaley Pool is a campaign to stop the swimming pool at Whaley Bridge Primary School closing at the end of the academic year. There is currently a Facebook group for the campaign so my aim is to spread awareness further than the audience of school Mums on Facebook and get the wider community involved.
I’ve created a series of posters to be put up in Whaley Bridge to inform the residents of the possible closure, educate them on the benefits of swimming and persuade them to sign the petition. The friendly illustrations are more personal and suit the community audience and will appeal to adults as well as children. Alongside some illustrations are shocking statistics about the importance of learning to swim. They contrast with the playful images to get the audiences attention.
The logo makes use of the distinct shape of the pool building which will be recognisable to the residents of the town.
